Event Overview
WOMEN x WOMEN debuted in March 2009 as the first photography exhibit to ever be a part of LG Fashion Week in Toronto, featuring the top female fashion photographers in Canada. The event was founded with the intention to draw awareness to the unique perspective of women in an industry dominated by the male gaze, and to highlight Canada's top female fashion photographers as celebrity role models. With Fashion Television as the presenting media sponsor and coverage by over 40 outlets in Canada, the hugely popular event generated millions of impressions and much discussion.
WOMEN x WOMEN 2010 will return to LG Fashion Week with a strong line-up of the twelve-top female fashion photographers in Canada, including four new exhibitors: Malina Corpadean, Anouk Lessard, Lindsey Drennen and Carlyle Routh. The photographers will once again shoot high fashion editorials featuring Canadian designers, which will be presented in a new format. In 2010, the work will be projected and shown alongside film vignette of the photo shoot in progress.
A by-invite-only industry and media reception to celebrate WOMEN x WOMEN will close LG Fashion Week FW'10 on the evening of Thursday April 1st at Thrush Holmes Empire (1093 Queen St. W.), an art gallery at Queen W. & Dovercourt in Toronto. Members of the public are invited to check out the exhibit on Friday April 2nd from 11AM 5PM.
By making WOMEN x WOMEN an annual event our goal in collaboration with our industry partners and sponsors is to inspire more young women to get behind the camera lens and create the future of fashion in their own vision.
